SIMON SAYS (2006)

Written & Directed By: William Dear
Cinematography By: Bryan Greenberg
Editor: Chris Conlee

CAST: Crispin Glover, Margo Harshman, Blake Lively, Robyn Lively, Erica Hubbard, Bruce Glover, Kelly Vitz

If you go into this film with the right mindset it is actually pretty entertaining not a good film but entertaining.

It’s campy in every sense of the word. It’s a typical 80’s type slasher film where each character is a type it’s obviously low budget and not a second of it is believable.

The Film is fun it plays almost like it is a satire almost but it’s not it seems to be serious in it’s scenes.

The Cast is ok but Crispin glover is what drives the film his loco performance is so over the top it seems like he is having fun much better then the recent horror films he has been in, His performance sets the mood for the rest of the film.

The shocking thing about this film is that it is written and directed by Williams Dear who mainly directs kids movies. I guess he was trying to break out of his normal work. He makes some mistakes along the way showing he is a newbie at it but he doesn’t embarrass himself. He even kills his son off in the film. William Dear is a director I am a fan of and here he brings a certain energy to the film that makes you enjoy the film despite itself.

Though be warned they advertise Blake Lively from GOSSIP GIRL as being in this film and she is for one scene at the end so it’s a bit of false advertising.

I can recommend it if you are just looking for a fun rental.
