This film starts off as a low budget teen movie but then becomes more of a psychological mind game for it’s characters.

It’s really a typical coming of age story with some emotional/sexual intrigue thrown in.

It tries to be a film where the characters go from innocent to totally sadistic but not knowing they are they think they are being each others fantasies. As the film goes on we get to know the characters backstories and true selves then watch them transform to what they think people want them to be. The film shows that none of the characters truly know each other no matter how close on the surface they seem.

Now this all could have been interesting but the major weakness of this film is it all feels like a act. The film is pretentious and has no personality so that the film feels empty. Which is interesting as all the characters in the film want to be performers and one of the major themes for one of the characters is to live life so they have emotions and memories to fall back on to play characters unlike themselves. At certain points the film does feel like bondage film as these characters have smiles on there faces but seem to be torturing themselves and each other.

The acting in the film is really good and is probably what pushes the film into being passable and really makes for interesting viewing. Zach Gilford truly shows he has what it takes to be a leading man. Emmy rossum has been on my radar for awhile but this feels like the first time she has put in a real performance.
