After the first massacre in 1974, the townspeople suspected that the Sawyer family were responsible. A vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer house, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family. Decades later a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from her grandmother. she decides to bring her friends along on the road trip to investigate her inheritance. On arrival she uncovers she has inherited a mansion but is yet to uncover the terrors that lurk in the basement below it.

Why, oh why must we keep making sequels to prequels and sequels and remakes of this movie. The original from the 70's is one of my favorite horror films probably number 2 behind ROSEMARY’S BABY, yes I know the comparison is a huge leap. As you can see why it upsets me each time any type of continuance is announced. I am good with the original and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 anything after that becomes embarrassing and unneeded. Yet still I watch. The remake wasn't good but at least it was somewhat respectable style wise.

Just as in the original, the first victim is bludgeoned to death while wandering the house alone.

This sequel is totally unneeded it's supposed to be a direct sequel. Yet the actor playing leather face doesn't resemble him at all. In fact the whole films story seems like I could have been any horror film script. They just tied Leatherface into the script as he comes wig a known history.

Everything in this movie is predictable no surprises at all. All the characters/victims seem to be types where once again we are sad to see them go so violently but we know nothing really about them so we have no connection. They are really just place holders, The slutty best friend, the jock boyfriend. The goofy friend and the sexy protagonist. I have to say this film reached a strange level when her best friend was openly flirting and cheating with the protagonists boyfriend and yet cares so much about her. That to me was the only entertaining part as the rest of the film unfolded exactly as expected even the gore felt unoriginal.

I will admit part of the reason why I watched this film were the two female leads. Tania Raymonde is an actress whose career I follow and have become quite a fan of she is really good at character roles and has a wide range. He was also a noteworthy child actress. The roles that she usually gets at least recently are so beneath her it is hard to watch and here she is basically only here for eye candy as Every time she is on screen she is in something revealing tight and see through. Half the shots in the film seem devoted to somehow have her ass somewhere in the shot or just focus on it when there is nothing else for the camera to do. The same fate is reserved for Alexandra Daddario though as the lead her outfits are tight ad revealing but a little more conservative of course they allow her midriff to be shown constantly and have her cleavage be it's own character. I realize that is what helps sell the film, it just seems to give a wrong message. I know these films are expiration in genre and usually horror is quite exploitable and his film has exploitation down pay it just doesn't really have a movie.

Especially when this film is advertised as 3d and looking at the shots, It was obviously not shot hat way and converted later as here are hardly any 3d use shots and he ones that are I can't imagine being exciting watching in a theater not does it add to the experience or nature of the film.

I will say that Alexandra Daddario is so beautiful and looks so strong I would endorse her to play wonder woman in whatever iteration that is Chosen Movies or television as she has the talent, build and looks and as se struggles to survive I truly envisioned her as the character. I had to do something to keep me entertained. Has an innocence that hit's at a dark side while exhibiting strength.

Even the back story to get the characters in motion is clunky and for a film whose message is family the relationships of the characters seem selfish and more mercenary then anything. --This film is bad and a waste of money and talent. Though I can easily think of a better sequel for it. That would illuminate and stretch the mythology farther and make it a bit richer.

Skip it
