This Showtime TV-movie film is based on a true story. It is powerful but at times it seems to let down it’s subject.

The story is of a airborne ranger cadet who falls in love with a transsexual and must keep it secret while trying to figure out his own. There isn’t too much material here to tell a full cinematic story so it depends on a lot on cliché’s more then anything. Then again since it is based on a true story you can’t take too many liberties. At least not without disrespecting the real life participants. The film comes off as rather bland but then again it’s a tv movie. It’s told bare and by the basics. No Illumination, No visionary direction.

Troy Garity plays the lead role as a live wire who smolders in each scene that you can never fully read him or his characters emotions. Lee Pace does a wonderful job as his trans love interest and shows a certain charm that perfectly shows why someone perfectly straight would fall for him. Shawn Hasoty as usual is good as the sociopathic roommate who from his first scene we can see as trouble. All the actors are all underrated who should be getting more work.

It’s a ok rental
